Thin consistent head formation throughout the drink. Black ink/oil appearance. Smells strongly of bourbon, roasted coffee, and black licorice. Medium mouthfeel/body. Anterior mild sweetness with roasted coffee beans and raisin/licorice blend with mild to moderate carbonation. Posterior coffee blends to bourbon and goes done super smooth. Moderate alcoholic finish. Leaves you feeling warm inside. 2016 run, extremely complex beer. In my personal opinion this beer is great and almost lives up to the hype.

2016 run. Smells like coffee and chocolate, coffee comes thru at the start, get the bourbon on the finish. Awesome shit. Lives up to the hype, only wish it wasn't like digging for gold to get it here in Ohio.

2016 batch. Smell is coffee and chocolate, coffee comes through in the taste, get the bourbon flavor on the finish. Awesome.

A- to B+. I had the 2015 side by side with the 2016 on 4/1/16. Liked the mellowness of the 2015. 2016 was a bit astringent and more alcoholic (12.5) which masked the bourbon flavors. 1-20-18 had a 2016 by itself and it was a fairly mellow blend of chocolate, coffee and bourbon barrel.

Had it at founders reminds me of dragons milk but better. With the high abv it hit hard. So good so happy I finally got to try one
