I won't be biased here...in spite of my preference to how a brown ale should be I'd say this is an interesting take on the style. I taste profound chocolate malt. It's full bodied , almost like a stout. It's literally tip-toeing the line of porter/stout. This brown ale is good. But I would make it a session.

Had it in a can. Nathan chose it because of the dog on the label.

Nice brown ale, interesting depth of flavor. Pours dark, almost like a stout. Had at matchbox on 18 aug 13

An interesting and good brown. Dark and malty up front but a crisp finish similar to a pilsner and then back to malty after. Good but not sure I would pay the $14/6 pack here for it.

Excellent brown ale with smooth and intense flavoring. Enjoy the whole day with it.

Very nice brown ale. Hints of coffee and chocolate that make it semi sweet.

Nearly all Avery beers lean to the hoppy side, and Ellie's is no different. Brown ales are usually malty with minimal hops. Ellie's kicks it up a notch with a malty start and hoppy finish.
