Bitterness dominates the caramel notes from the malt. It?s a bit like chewing on a pine board

My bottle shows 12.0 ABV. Dark amber with thick, foamy head that lingers. Rich and malty without being boozey. Plenty of hops balance the malt very well.
Good stuff.

Been looking for this bad boy for years... Mixed feelings.. Some sips you have a sweet malty, dry hop finish, others you have a lingering, intense hop bite.. Basically I'm balancing the inconsistent gulps and adding in the huge abv.. At least a 3.5, maybe 4 in the future.. Would have again..Great DIPA, another great Darkhorse beer, but probably not top 100 material.

Nice and smooth for such a high ABV 13.6%. Malt masks the alcohol well. Nice color great aroma. Finished two of the four and I was done but enjoyed it. From the bottle in Indy.

Way strong at almost 14%. Like a barlywine, sweet malt dominates but a good bit of piney resin. Definitely a sipper. On tap at Emporium Chicago, May 2015.
