Incredibly smooth for a true double IPA. Be careful my friends!

The smell is quiet but strong. Bitter, grapefruit, yet full. Taste. Is bitter and full, breast and super bitter but quick. Totally delicious and hides the big abv. Super good beer

I think this is by far one of the best IPA's EVER

19APR13, Hammerheads, Louisville, KY Draft, pint I don't like it as much as the Flying Dog Imperial IPA. It's good, barely hazy golden orange with a small white head. Citrusy hop aroma with a hint of earthy. Almost orangey. There's quite a bit of bitterness, which turns me off to the beer, though I can tell it's well done. It just doesn't fit my preferred flavors. As it warms there's a tangy bite which is really refreshing. Almost with a weird spice-not spicy though.

3-31-13. Dark amber color. Small off-white head that does not last. Smells of citrus and pine. Full mouthfeel, similar to a light barley wine or old ale. Nice hop flavor and bitterness that balances out the malty sweetness. Nearly 14% abv but definitely does not overly boozy. Would definitely recommend to anyone that is a fan of big beers.

I will just start by saying that this is not a Double IPA .... Can't be. It is more like a barley wine or old ale. Deep dark amber with very little head retention. Hints of lemon or orange zest but mostly malts and possibly toffee. You can certainly smell the alcohol in this beast. Taste is much the same with hints of citrus, tons of malt with touches of toffee or carmel with the alcohol burn. At 12.5 ABV is one packs some punch.

Does not hide the alcohol well enough... Could be better at around 10 %

Not much of a nose but huge hop malty flavor in the middle and big alchahol bite in the end and a lingering taste of alchahol

Dark malty color. Heavy in sediment. Strong alcohol taste not overbearing. Not as citrusy or floral as other imperial ipa's.
