Its ok. Black IPA. Hoppy, bitter, dry, malty. Robust flavor gets in yer craw and lingers. Medium body. Although the dumkopf who labeled this beer called it a strong ale, one aspect of enjoying that style works here too: let it warm up. I stepped away from it for a while , then came back. Aroma struck me right away: maybe I was too hard in it. Then the taste: ditto. Better than ok. The dry, hoppy flavor works well. Robust and strong and not for casual beer drinkers.

Good black IPA. Don't know if the "lime" part of the Sublimely was meant to indicate actual lime. Don't really taste it. But, overall good tasting beer. Can taste a bit of burnt maltiness and smokey flavors. Light enough to make it feel like you're drinking an IPA. I would recommend drinking a few.

Slightly malty,average

Yet another fine offering from Stone - basically, a double IPA with some roasted malt making it black. Good balance here.

Malty up front, sweet. Hops come second. Nose of hops was not standard. Stone brewery is one of my absolute favorites, sadly disappointed. This Black IPA is not one of their best.

5.5.15 on bottle, smells like grapefruit, smooth taste chocolate, savory like barley starts citrus and ends with toasted coffee beans, orange took a shower with a chocolate bar, marriage between an ipa and a stout

Black ipa not that great

Awesome black IPA. Grapefruit flavor is mild.

Almost perfect black IPA. Full bodied with a lot of hops. It'll kick you.

Color of whidby jet. Smell of roasted pine. Bitter and sweet. Hints of saltiness and burnt flavor. Reminds me of a forest floor. Head is super thick and long lasting, texture is silky.
