Extremely dark color. No light shine through. First sip is a punch in the mouth of hops, yet extremely smooth. Bitter, but not too much. A little overwhelming at first, but each sip gets better. Good one-time beer.

Bitter and hoppy

A quick punch in the mouth from the hops is surprising coming from a winter brew, but is well complimented by the dark malts. Gets better with each sip.

Not a bad winter beer. Strong hops.

Nice hoppy winter ale. Not to bitter

Bitter, hoppy, like a dark IPA

Bitter bitter bitter but it almost tastes like the kind of bitter that results from adding too much turmeric and cardamom to a dish. It's very spicy and I can't put my finger on the spices (bitter clove? Cardamom? Nutmeg I think. All very bitter but interesting at least). I don't hate it. It's enjoyable and one bottle gets me tipsy. This is what I'm drinking while visiting my family for Christmas so that I can stand to be around them and it's working great :-)

A little too bitter and dark tasting for me. Hard to drink and get through. Not horrible though.

Dark and smooth

Smooth drinkability. Not too strong a flavor but definitely something to sip and savor. Very enjoyable with the hint of caramel and hops. For an experiment I'd say New Belgium was successful.
