Nice ale smell, a bit of brown sugar and winter caramel on the nose. Big head and big lacing. Stout identity, very full, chocolatey , semi thick and creamy. Nice hop bite, not huge but there was a presence. Hidden alcohol - flavorful. Very Samuel Adams

Rock solid.

Pleasantly surprised. Thought the caramel and chocolate malt had a perfect blend, neither one overpowers the other. The mouth feel is nice and smooth.

For a winter brew and the different tastes it is surprisingly smooth.

Terrible! Couldn't finish the whole glass, it tastes like plums or raisins

Too hoppy

Definitely tastes old... In a good way! The specialty malts are right on in creating a nice, wholesome but not to heavy, and pleasantly chocolatey body. The spices follow quietly behind. Very nice beer for the holidays.

First taste is really bright for such a dark ale. Lots of carbonation. A champagne bubble head that fizzes away instantly. Brownish-red color, smooth malt finish with a hint of hops. I only know there are spices like ginger, cinnamon and a touch or orange because the bottle told me. There might be a slight citrus on the nose and up front, but the finish is completely devoid of spice. All-in-all, however, this is a decent ale that I'd drink again.

Strong tasting ale. Another Samuel Adams distinctly bold full flavored beer.
