Med-dark (translucent) carmel color. Med smoothness with no overwhelming flavors.

10JUL12, Flying Saucer, Nashville, TN VERY strong/flavorful Trappist. A bit too much for my liking. Very strong on the dark fruits, and there's also a lot of almost-smokiness/spicyness from the various spices. After about a half-glass it begins to mellow as you get used to it. I wouldn't drink it alone, and it might go well with some heavy pastas that can soak it up, or spicy meats. Thick mouthfeel.

Likely a good winter beer. Very warming and raisin-y.

Classic abbey ale but the alcohol content is too overpowering.

Dark, complex, chocolate undertones; thick beige head; smooth with a warmth at the back end going down; great brew
