A powerful ale, typical of the genre, but well made. Two years of aging for this 2016 vintage did not seem to subdue its bite overly much, though I cannot say the actual effects as this is the first I have had. Although good, mellowing it with another year or four would be wise, me thinks. Drinking this close to room temp is necessary. Compares closely with Weyerbacher barleywine. As with that beer, and some other barleywines, I waver between thinking it is very good and thinking itd go better as an engine fuel.

Bigfoot isn't kidding about being a suitably hopped, malty barleywine; great with spicy foods.

2017 batch is very hoppy and floral. Slightly bitter, with the bitterness continuing in aftertaste.

A little pine and honey on the nose. Loud bite upfront with some charcoal notes. Big honey flavor, and the burn from the alcohol content is very apparent. The charred taste hangs for a long time.

This is good! I don't normally like barleywine beers but this is palatable.

Pretty strong bite to it but not near like other ales I've had recently.

Fantastic American barley wine! Almost always perfectly balanced for it's style. Look forward to it every year. Just wish I could drink a whole four pack without regretting it! Do not drink too cold!
