This is the first time I have worked up the nerve to try an imperial IPA, and I'm actually quite surprised by it. I was expecting something exceedingly bitter, and did not find that to be the case at all. The color is a nice, dark amber, and the head was very full and rich, settling into some nice, mild lacing. The taste was surprisingly bright and soft...almost buttery, I would say. There was a bitterness that I would equate to lemon or orange peel and then a taste I would refer to as pine-like. This was a very good IPA. I would be pleased to drink another.

Ripe apricot, peach, and apple the nose. Obviously malt forward DIPA. Pine nuts, honey, and soy sauce on the palette. Hops are secondary on this standard east coast brew. Tasty. Drinkable. Big mouth and smooth finish. If you like malty IPAs, this is for you.

Tastes a lot like most Sam Adams beers with a IPA twist. Overall very average the more you like Boston Lager the more you will like this.
