Guinness light. Not in a bad way. Just retains the dark smoky flavor, but a bit lighter in weight.

I thought at first I tasted subtle coffee notes, which gave way to more of a pine flavour. Nice and dark, complex with all flavours remaining throughout the drink. 7.6 ABV. Can't wait to have another.

You need to get this on tap to do it justice. Malty and uniquely flavorful, this is the dopplebock standard from the Spaten mothership. I would rank it higher but I can never find it on tap.

Heavy malt with an almost lemony sour backnote; blooms into a sweet, brown sugar and caramel flavor and molasses depth; charcoal/ citrus hints and pine ester that finally gives way to citrus fruit finish. Hefty mouthfeel. Very complex. Not a daily beer to gulp, but a satisfying sipper.

Dopplebocks are not my thing. Very malty and bitter. Full bodied, too much for me.

One of my first dopplebocks ever, so I'm biased. Had some great times learning that you can't drink dopplebock the way you drink Milwaukee's Best.
