Very dark for a scotch ale. Taste of smoky sweetness like a porter. Overall enjoyable. Draught at OMalleys. Add two years later. Now it comes in 16 oz can. Not much noticeable smoke. This is a very smooth blend of hops and malt.

Going against the grain here: Reminds me of the mediocre beer that comes with beer flights at cookie cutter brewpubs. Very over-rated, though I should note that I think Scotch ale is a very meh genre but not this meh, which is not to say its undrinkable, especially socially. Got at The Cave in Big Sky, Montana.

Should be the standard for scotch ale.

B+. A light smoke aroma and flavor, medium body. More 80 Scottish than wee heavy. Second try a B-.
