Strong, a little bitter up front. Better in a glass for sure.

A tasty, solid strong dark ale. Slightly less complex than other versions, but universally appealing. Creamed coffee and malty mocha.

Surprisingly tasty. Good casual steak beer.

Color not superblack, can see caramel and reddish fig color throughout. Not a lot of head on mine. Nose has coffee, espresso, touch of chocolate, not as strong as say FBS. Taste-- coffee hits you first, trying to pick out the belgian yeast funkiness, not quite there ... will have to try Unibroue trois pistoles to compare. Weird feeling-- looks kind of like trappiste rochefort, tastes nothing like ... so not a fair review. Will have to let this one warm up to be more fair about complexities.

Starts tangy. Hopefully as it warms it will sweeten

Nice balance of maltiness with chocolate, vanilla, coffee

Mild nose -- Belgian sweet smelling-- and mild stout first sip. Bubbly and smooth. Very long caramel finish that's a little bitter but not deep.

Smooth, roasty and malty. Subtle chocolate and coffee undertones with a velvety finish. Got better as it warmed

Good solid stout. Not much of a bitter aftertaste. Nice hint of chocolate and coffee. Even good when it gets warmer

A lighter stout but very well-rounded and balanced body and flavor.
