Pours well with a frothy, tan head. Beer is jet black, allowing no light through. Cloves take the leading role with some banana and some other spices. Drinking this on Christmas Eve so seems fitting. Reminds me of black jack gum and my wife said it is like a dark, strong hefeweizen.

Sadly, this is the first Vertical Epic I've tried. And it's the last one Stone will make.
It's somewhat of a Belgian dark with some spices added. It's not as sweet as a Belgian. All in all, a really nice, drinkable beer. The clove flavor leaves a bit of an odd aftertaste. The high ABV is not noticeable. I would definitely drink it again. It's a nice winter brew.

Kinda dissapointed on the last of Stone's vertical epic series. Others may like it but im just not a fan of belgian beers. Has the same kind of taste thats in belgian tripels. 2 stars, sorry. I will drink everything else Stone offers, just not this one again

Had it on 12-12-12 @ Stone Brewery. Great beer, perfectly balanced!

Like Christmas in a bottle...jet black with tan head, aroma and taste of cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin spice. Mouthfeel not as heavy as appearance suggests.

Just as Christmasy as the normal 12, but all the cinnamon and spice flavors are rounded out. This is a much smoother beer. You get all the taste of the spices but none of the bite. Far superior in my opinion to the regular.

Nice hints of orange peel, cinnamon, cloves and other holiday spices. Pours almost pitch black with a creamy tan head. Delicious beer and a great holiday addition. Get em before they are gone
