A delicious Trappist beer though unusual texture (not a bad texture, just unique). I really like more malty, thicker Belgians just because they seem to carry more unique and varying flavors but this one has more of a Guiness-like thickness. Full quad flavor but thinner.

Very strong but smooth Belgian. Hints of toffee with an amazing after taste. One of the best.

Normally I give a wide berth to Belgian ales as I find them often too "fizzy" for my tastes. This is an excellent beer however. Rich and sweet without any annoying cloying aftertaste I'd enjoy this with chocolate or a baked Brie. Yum!

One of the best dark Belgians I've ever had. Strong and delicious. Almost as savory as a wine. Tastes like apples. Belgian yeast does not overpower the taste, which is good. Delicious!

I have tried all of the Rocheforts and Trappistes Rochefort 10 is the best. I like the rich taste and flavors in this beer.

The beer has a mild, pleasant malty aroma. It has a rich, dark, reddish-brown hue -- almost opaque with a foamy, dissipating head. The taste is extraordinarily complex. You can definitely taste the roasted malty flavors - particularly dark chocolate and earthy coffee flavors with a mild but smooth acidity. There are even better flavors on the finish, with a sophisticated sweetness and fruity notes of strawberries and other rich, dark fruits. The chocolatey taste continues on the finish and is the perfect complement to the brew's fruitiness; however, neither flavor is harsh or overpowering. I was skeptical as to whether this beer could live up to its sterling reputation, but it certainly does. It comes with a hefty pricetag, but it is worth the occasional splurge. This is one of the most satisfying and complete brews I've ever tasted.
