Christmas cake sweet fresh leather decent carbonation
Taste: very heavy sweet malt complex.

Quite dark, weak head, very slight citrus aroma, tart and bitter but not in a bad way, dry but with a sweet finish, very complex and layered with a smokey after taste, sparkling mouth feel. If I was blind folded I might think it was a wine.

This is all it was hyped up to be. Dark, smooth, malty, sweet, (someone else said this and is perfect description) pumpernickel bread flavor. Everything you want in a Trappistes quad. Delicious.

Smooth dark ale with a strong alcohol content but not taste. No strong flavors which was disappointing for a dark ale. The 8 has a stronger flavor profile in my opinion. Still a good ale and would drink it again as well as recommend it to others.

High alcohol content + super smooth taste = great beer. See other people's notes for flavor haha

Not impressed. It's on the Brew Gene top 25. I don't get it. Tastes like a cross between beer and bourbon.
