Well they don?t have the same label or call it Enlightened Black anymore but this must be the same ale. So here is my review. It?s been a long time but this dark ale -brewed with spices- favorably compares with another ale that used to come from Colorado- Blue Moons Mountain Abbey Ale . Makes sense that New Belgium would produce something to compete with it. Glad! I miss the Mountain Abbey! This ale is dark, chocolaty, and delicious. I don?t discern any spices?so don?t know what that is about.

A good dark brew, I wasn?t expecting dark since I didn?t read the label- it has obvious coffee notes and chocolate finish it?s good for what it is, that just isn?t my favorite type of brew but it?s a good dark ale

This is a really good example of a dark, malty, hop combo that is a great balance of the two but is very drinkable. Very solid.
