Gallivanting through San Francisco, we happened upon City Beer not really knowing what to expect. Intrigued by their "in-house only" cooler behind the bar, we blindly demanded a bottle of The Wanderer, based on The Bruery's steady track record and the fact that there was a platypus on the bottle. "You know this is $60, right?" the barman asked. "No. No, we did not know that," we replied. "But that's fine." "Schlee-pop!" That's onomatopoeia for the bottle opening. Three glasses filled tall. The first sip. WOW. "This tastes like 60 bucks!" An immensely powerful sour that leaves nothing on the cutting room floor. Harsh, tart blackberries up front and the finest cherry finish known to man. To summarize, we had this the same weekend as Pliny the Younger and my friends and I unanimously deemed this the best beer of the trip. Every time I have another sour now I will probably be disappointed. Splurge on this one, folks.
