Sweet, crisp, has a strange sour wang to it. Interesting, but I wouldn't buy it again.

Aroma is typical for a Belgian tripel, sweet malt with only the barest hint of subtle hops. The appearance is darker than what I've encountered in Belgium but has a nice head that persists and laces the glass nicely. The flavor has the malt up front with a stronger than normal hops bitterness. Triples are strong and this beer is no exception, though it doesn't hide the alcohol as well as others it is nowhere near objectionable. The mouthfeel is full with mild carbonation pinprick. Overall this is a pleasant beer that can sneak up on you, it would go nicely on a chilly winters night.

Has an earthy flavor that doesn't mix particularly well with the all too common syrupy-ness that comes with beers over 8%

This has to be the same yeast strain we used in our Dubbel Barrel Belgian. This is a nice betweener of our homebrew and a classic Tripel.
