I paired up this with Sawdust City's Lone Pine - another IPA I've never tried, and ran an informal taste test. Clearly for me Lone Pine was the winner. However McAuslan's offering is quite good and I stand a big supporter of this brewery. I think of this IPA as an also ran only because as good as it is it's the same as most every other good IPA. Funny - you create a fine product but it still loses out to someone with slightly bigger balls. Er, audacity! Ya... audacity. Has a slight clove aftertaste. Persistent lace, too, as if it has cobalt chloride in it.

Good East coast Canadian ipa. Nice rich color not too dark thin head bitter aftertaste big time Montreal Dundees Pub

Nice golden color, though poor head and poor retention, but decent lacing. Nice grassy/citrusy aromas and flavors. Grapefruit is primary on the tongue with a nice dryness and lingering grassiness. Fairly crisp and light bodied. Maybe it is the hops after the malty primacy of the quads I drank before, or maybe it was the spicy jambalaya I drank this with, but I think it is my favourite US style IPA and I found it very refreshing!

Golden in color with minimal head, moderate lacing. Aromas of citrus and grass. Slight grapefruit notes with a finely drying finish and a mild grassy-bitter aftertaste. Maybe it is due to drinking this after quads and with spicy food, but the hops contrast to the malty primacy makes this my favorite US IPA!
