Heavy on the vanilla flavor, but balances well with the malt -- not too heavy.

The oak is nice but it's too malty and unbalanced for my taste
Goodentaug - February 14, 2012
Too sweet for my taste. Maltiness is overpowering.

Found this in a case of Sam sampler at BJ's. I think it's quite good and a very good American Amber. Nice full taste, good color and head, not a hint of hoppiness or bitterness. I wish I could find it on tap somewhere.

My rating 4.0 Clear copper red with beige head. Smooth malt flavor, no bitterness.

This is the first oak ale that I've ever had I may just not like oak ale

Vanilla and caramel like bourbon cask ale.
NGray720 - January 25, 2012
Not the best beer I've ever had but pretty good new seasonal from Sam.

Dark amber appearance with a thin head upon pour. Nutty aroma. Deep nutty flavor with slight grain taste.
