The stout has the effect of countermanding the sour, just a bit. With some dark beer malt you don?t get a glass of juice, which most sours can be confused with. For me sours really need to justify their existence. Why should it take space up in the world instead of a quart of grapefruit juice that you can thrown a dash of rum in. Most fail their defense. Professor black barely escapes. It?s not bad. In fact, it?s the best sour I?ve had. Melding the sour with the stout was an astute move. But ultimately it still tastes like someone added grapefruit juice to a stout, and why would you do that? Unless you want people to not be drinking beer, or in this case not entirely. Give it a 2 1/2, but it might deserve a three star; it isn?t bad.

Subtly sour. Rich in flavor. Dark sour
