This is an interesting middle ground between a porter and an IPA.

Smooth black IPA. Tasted on tap at Prop's in Ft Walton, Aug 2012.

Hoppy and dark. Creamy. Good.

Very light hoppy taste, almost smoky.

A smooth and subtle IPA. Caramel undertones and a piney-hoppy aftertaste.

Good, but doesnt have enough hop bitterness to discern this as a black ipa, as opposed to just a stout.

My first black IPA, not great, but not horrible. Kind of weak for an IPA , after a bit then there is this strange burnt bitter after taste. Wouldn't toss it, but wouldn't buy it again.

Great dinner beer, not overpowering, decent ipa flavor.

Good taste initially , but a mildly metallic aftertaste, retains no head, (not sure how the guy in the picture got that big head on his beer) and a pitifully watery mouthfeel. Overall a drinkable beer, but no where near the best , especially when it comes to black ipa's ( think sublimely self righteous ale from stone )

Copper finish.
