light to medium brown in colour. nose is light caramel, some booze, some burnt toffee. Taste is sweet up front with brown sugar but finishes boozy. Nice substantial body

Deep dark inky brown w/ creamy light tan head. Smells of sweet malt, slight nuttiness & boozey esters. Bright hoppy bitterness w/ slightly overly sweet palate that threatens to overwhelm. Tastes like hops & pralines w/ subtle "brown" nuttiness. Interesting Double Brown attempt but overall fumbling w/ lack of sophistication & more cohesive flavor profile. Not bad but like most Clown Shoes misses the mark.

Really pushes the limits of what a brown ale can be! Alcoholic and rich, but the flavor is subdued and subtle, with an evocative aftertaste. A pleasant and elegant sipping drink, with a surprising kick. Very creative, a fun ale to spend time with!

Alcohol, brown sugar, maple, coffee, definitely needs some aging, but killer double brown

This is the only double brown ale I have had so far, but it was really good. Malty and smooth but balanced with some hops, very nice. On tap at Avenue Pub, September 2012.

Nice collaborative effort from Mercury and Brash breweries!
Pours dark brown with tan head. Yeast, malt and unsweetened chocolate nose. Interestingly flavorful pallet of yeast, malt, cocoa, sweet brown sugar. A bit of hops and alcohol at the finish.
