Dark and rich with strong notes of raisin and dried fruits. Sweet malty finish.

B to B+. Way better than the Dubbel with plums, more complex even the high alcohol does not spoil the complexity.

Kinda reminds me of wine, 10.2 ABV is present for sure. I love a lot of things from Sierra Nevada but just not this one..

On tap at hopleaf. Dark black to purple appearance. Decent head which sticks around. The smell is pungent plum, refreshing! Taste is really odd. Not exactly in a bad way, but odd. It isn’t a stout and isn’t a radler and isn’t ale-ish. The flavor is good, I’ve decided. Not very alcoholic despite the abv, which is awesome. The mouthfeel is ale and the flavor is stout. Would sip again.

This Belgian style ale was created as a collaboration between Sierra Nevada and the monks from the Abbey of New Clairvaux. Created with sugar plums grown in the Abbey and harvested by the monks in Vina. It has a beautiful sweet aroma with fruit notes. Rich and complex caramel and maltiness. Heavy mouthfeel and thick head. A unique yet traditional Belgian flavor. The bottle comes corked and I love the thick lips of the bottle. High abv of 10.2% which is not evident upon drinking. I would have this again although I could not enjoy more than one in a session.

Pours dark brown and thick. Strong aroma of dried fruit, banana and toffee. Great Belgian quad taste with good balanced flavor with a good dry finish. Didn't get much from the plums, however....

Definite fruity notes, with a not so subtle sugary overtone. The traditional elements of a Belgium Quad are there, but they take a supporting role behind the unique flavors produced by the sugar plums. Quite enjoyable and different.
