Bought a bottle from SD Beerworks. ABV on bottled stated to be 11% not the 13% listed on brew gene. Aroma- sweet malts dominate. Caramel, chocolate, Appearance - dark brown with hues of ruby. Creamy, light tan colored head does not longer. Taste - hints of dark stone fruits beneath sweet caramel and chocolate. A sharp hop bitterness yields to a sweet caramel and chocolate flavor with undertones of dark stone fruits. Bitterness returns in the aftertaste to lessen the predominantly sweet and cloying finish. Alcohol warming finishes the ride. Mouthfeel - thick, creamy, with a lingering stickiness. Moderate carbonation most likely seems like less because of the density of this drink Overall - not hoppy like west coast barley wines. Fully Monty malt show that has a layered complexity but is also balanced and not overwhelming. Decidedly delicious.

Delicious sweet plummy wintertime barleywine! Hops are muted, so stays drinkable for a long, enjoyable session. Great barley taste with frolicsome fruit and candy...Really a fun beer!
