That barley smell as you tilt your glass for a sip will either make you say, "ugh" (my wife) or will make you think, "interesting." Then, the hops take over with a poignant and very tasty brew. Not my favorite style, but Stone makes it very well. 4 out of 5.

Like the regular old guardian much better. Nose gives subtle hints of smoky sweetness. Upon drinking the smokiness is the first thing to hit u in the face. Then leaves a strong aftertaste of saltiness and smokiness. Almost like an anchovies. Not one of my favorite stone productions.

Pretty much undrinkable. Very hoppy and very smokey. I'm surprised by how smokey it is actually. Mild chocolate malt flavors. Also a lot of alcohol scent and taste. I definitely won't drink this again and we dumped about half of it out. Joel said it tastes "like hops and ear wax."

A hoppy and bitter farmhouse. Weird but not bad. Stone masters bitterness and they didn't fail on this one.

Pours a dark amber with ruby highlights. Thin white head. Very sweet aroma partly vanilla, partly caramel with slight hints of cherry. Sweetie slight caramel flavor followed by hops (not much flavor other than bitterness) with a strong alcohol warming finish. Medium to full-bodied, chewy and slightly sticky texture. Lots of hoppy bitterness and alcohol warming.
