smells like poor - June 1, 2012
Presentation: 12.7 fl oz bottle, oak age, batch 3, Orval chalice
A: light brown, decent head, thin head sticks around, moderate lacing
A: Tons of oak (even after two years), cinnamon, spice, alcohol, dark fruit. Not quite sure if a fan of the oak, but everything else is great. Aroma isn't very strong either
T: oak, vanilla, plum, grape, cherry, chocolate. Very pleasant. Oak is much more muted and vanilla is a great touch that ties everything together. Alcohol is incredibly well hidden for 10%. Hardly any warming at all. The bouquet opens up incredibly well too.
M: Medium body with little carbonation. Incredibly smooth drinking.
O: certainly not worth the $15 price tag, but this was definitely a treat. Definitely one of the better quads that I've had.
