Actually 16% ABV (11% is the non-barrel aged version) Kamarad Friedrich (2010 aged for 14 months in Bourbon barrels and served at Station Host in 2013 - 16% ABV) dark black in color with a decry brown head of fair retention and quickly eroding lace that swills with the glass tilt. Nose is chocolate and vanilla underneath a strong bourbon whiskey booziness. Taste is fantastic with some vanilla and oak notes really complementing the almost high-end-dark-chocolate-filled-with-whiskey flavour. Not super roasty or smoky, but some roasted cocoa botes almost mixed with some boozy cherries. Body is medium full with a stellar creaminess while also strongly warming. You can taste the booze (no shit!) but it is tempered by the chocolate notes and vanilla oaky-bourbon dominance. A simply marvelous beer! 5
