Boise brewing Hip Check IPA 7.6 abv. A friend brought this on to me from Idaho & my first thought was...hmm this ought to be interesting.
On 1st pour, minimal lacing on the glass and a pleasant aroma of mild grapefruit. The 1st taste was initially more malt up front than I like followed by the sweet hop that makes a good IPA. It finishes bitter and very well balanced.
Overall impression, kind of odd the way this beer tastes. It's more complex than you would expect but in the reverse order, malt followed by hops and a smooth balanced finish where neither stands out at the end. Overall this is a decent entry into the IPA party and a surprising thumbs up to a beer from Boise Idaho
