Rare fail by Innis & Gunn. Nothing of note or distinction, like it was a simple blend of all their beers. Ok, nice, but I'd not bother again.

Buttery taste with just a small hint of whiskey

Wow! First time ever had a beer with a mixture of whiskey flavor. Best served in room temp.

Pours a clear amber with a bit of head, but this quickly dissipates. Nose is filled with caramel and vanilla, And these flavours stay strong with each sip. The whiskey barrels don't come through too strongly, but the drier finish reminds you of where this beer has been. Overall, another great brew from the folks at Innis & Gunn, but it's hard to go wrong with a base ale this good.

Clear amber colour alongside a decent creamy white head, with moderate retention and a very nice (if quickly receding) thin but sticky lace. Aroma is similar to the regular product (I can only presume it is the same beer aged in different casks), which is to say slight caramel and toffee. Flavor is sweet, with a smoothly malted delivery of toffee and caramel, with an ever so slight hint of vanilla. Though still sweet, it is not as sweet as the original and dries out nicely with a whiskey-like finish that is more balancing than in the original. Nice clean mouthfeel and a light body, with a decent warming, though the sweetness still masks the alcohol even if a tiny Scotch-warmth seeps through. Basically like the original, only better!

Not the best innis and gunn but nice oaky flavor, gets sweeter the warmer it gets
