Not as dense and syrupy as barley wine tends to be. Smooth on the tongue and just as smooth a finish. Dangerous if you don't read the ABV carefully.

The bottle we had was a little flat, but was very clean taste. Decent, just not my style. Bottle, about a year old, July 2014.

Aged a year, rye malts, whiskey taste. Still very smooth. The hops add a great balance!

Opaque hazy copper color with amazing white head that has excellent retention and leaves a moderate amount of lace. Poured into tulip glass. Boozy nose with caramel and cherry aromas. Ethanol warmth obscures some of the flavors. 10% ABV makes its presence felt early on. Yeast sediment is fairly heavy making the body medium and somewhat chewy.
Carbonation is good. Overall, a strong but interesting barleywine. Enjoyable, but would only have one at a time. Fred has some bark to it.
