Scotch ale with a lot of maple

A very good scotch ale. The maple syrup is a great touch but puts the sweetness of the beer at my upper limit for tolerance.

Matt's favourite today!

Decent off-white head with good retention and some lace. Dark copper to light brown with a reddish tone from the yeast that makes it opaque. Slight maple aromas, but muted by the stronger yeasty aromas of mustiness and leaves alongside the obviously present alcohol. Hints of malty fruits up front, with a drying finish composed of smokiness and ever-present alcohol. Only very faint hints of maple syrup. More like a scotch than many scotch ales, but less like a scotch ale with the excessively obvious warmth and active Belgian yeast style. Slightly tingly on the tongue and medium bodied. Interesting and unique but not great.
