Very smooth and full bodied but not heavy.

Poured from bottle to Pilsner glass:
Starts off with a thick, foamy, light tan head that dissipates slowly; starts out dark brown and lightens to a golden color as you hit bottom. Clear all the way through.
The nose is pretty basic, with a malty, musty smell. It's reasonably thick and has a simple, strong flavor. Primarily coffee laced with some chocolate and nutty notes in the background. The ABV is relatively well disguised, and the finish is the same coffee and malt you started with, but smoothed out and a bit lighter on the palate. Solid, heavy, and strong if that's what you're looking for.

A good doppel bock but not my favorite in the category. Interesting malt flavors

Smooth. Not overpowered by spices. Comparable to a Spaten Optimator.
