Near the top of its class, this is an excellent barleywine that doesn?t require aging. Pretty classic barleywine flavor but on the more subdued side, which is to my liking with barleywine. Not a factor in this beer is the barrel aging. Can not detect it at all. This could be upsetting if you were really expecting it or if you need the bourbon to mitigate the barleywine hops.

Even better aged for a few years. Just had my 2012 vintage, delicious!

Having it four years old - might be the perfect time - 2011 batch is wonderful right now

No doubt a great brew for bourbon fans. Unfortunately, I'm not among that crowd.

Strong, complex flavor, vanilla notes balance the dark chocolate. Slightly fruity notes.
