Wow. Really good! Smells very earthy. Taste is sweet from the malt with just enough of a hit from hops. Really enjoyed drinking this.

Pours a dark cloudy amber. Earthy, grassy and yet sweet aroma. Malty and sweet flavors with lingering bitterness throughout. Strong alcohol is hidden until it starts to warm.

I have come to love anything Deschutes but this Barleywine has we wishing for more. It's not a bad beer but in light of all the other delights I have had from this Bend, Oregon brewery, it comes a bit short. It is rich, high in alcohol - which is noticeable with gulps - and not very pleasant to the smell. The taste is a little off, almost like it is going bad, but the sweet after taste saves it from being a bomb. In short, I'm not regretting the purchase but I probably won't make another one.

Not a typical barleywine, by any means. Very sweet, strong as hell, and frothy malts toward the end. Different, worth trying.

A barley wine I really enjoyed. Earthy, grass (hay) aroma and sweet flavors. Strong alcohol is well masked.
