Supposed to be better than Chimay red, but I prefer the red. This is darker, maltier, more like a German dunkel.

On tap at Yard House in Greenville. By no means first time I have enjoyed this brew. Just first time I have talked about it. Too bad as it is way too cold to rate the flavors. Okay fast forward an hour. Beer is warmer and there is a much bigger smile on my face. The carmel and dark fruits are much more pronounced and meld very nicely. and I?m in a better frame of mind.

Such a great Belgium Ale. Smooth, slightly sweet but well balanced, and the finish is second to none.

Had at a an outdoor cafe in Leuven, Belgium. The scenery and the company made a good beer even better. Dark and rich, and yet really smooth and drinkable for a 9% beer. Will try this one again.

Smooth malty with an enjoyable taste without the alcohol burn at 9%. Wouldn't pay that much for it again. Bottle to glass at Papillon in Manhattan.

Good dark color with strong Carmel flavor. Very smooth.

Good beer. I am more of a hefeweizen guy but this beer isn't too bitter and has a nice taste to it.

How can one not appreciate the uniqueness of this beer from one of six remaining brewing monasteries in the world? Proprietary yeast and water combine to create this velvety smooth dark ale with a complex, candied caramel character.

Pours dark with a thick, frothy tan head. Light smell of bubblegum. Tastes of bubblegum, oak, plum, figs and alcohol. Creamy feel with a light alcohol burn. Good beer!

Good for a Belgium, esp at 9%; birthday beer with D & J Freeze
