Nice reddish brown with a super thinly-bubbled ever-so-slightly off-white head of stellar retention and lace. A little boozy on the nose with some vanilla and some sweet bready malt, with plum pudding, and slight traces of caramel. Booze on the nose and vanilla trace are only remnants of te barrel. Taste is standard barley wine plums, bready malts, prunes, and some alcoholic warmth discernible with the faintest vanilla trace as the only evidence of the barrel. Mouth is full and fairly sticky, with a chewiness and only lightly discernible carbonation. Almost feels like a cask. Better than the original, but traces of the barrel are negligible. 4.5
