Damn good dark fireside beers. Easily my favorite from Brooklyn Brewing.

I love Scottish ales. Expecting more of a seasonal though. Not better than Erie railbender ale or twisted kilt but would try again for sure. Very good in it's own right.

Lots of malt in this one. Dark amber color, with minimal head. Pretty delicious Scottish style ale on the sweet and malty side of things.

Aroma: Very light and minerally. Just the faintest edge of wet malt. Strange to say, but it smells like a very faint barley soup. Appearance: Bright wood brown with a long lasting just off tan head. Taste: Sweet from the first sip. The Maris Otter malt is very apparent, leaving a taste of souped barely. It fades into a slight cola hint aftertaste. Only here is the very light hint if hop earthiness detectable. Overall: Not bad. A very light and quaffable beer. Claims to have roots in Scottish ales, but I really don't find the malty sweetness that that description implies. Instead there is more of a grain quality to this. Definitely a good match to a hearty meal, like a good stew or roast.
