smitty420d - January 30, 2017Pours dark with a brown edge. Head drips beautifully sweet caramel, charcoal, coffee coming across the pallet and aroma. The hops make it very smooth great transition beer.
Beerguy33 - January 8, 2015Smokey aroma and flavor. Mild hop bitterness aftertaste, but overall a nice balance between hops and malt. Hints of roasty chocolate and caramel. I wish there was a little more coffee flavor but it's still very good. Ballast Point hit home runs with their IPA, Witbier and other styles and this beer is no different. Excellent Porter, I would drink it again for sure.
Borderking - September 26, 2013Solid American-style porter. Nice dry roastiness up front, like fresh-roasted coffee beans, followed by a dark, sweet maltiness that makes this beer very drinkable. Perhaps a bit more aggressiveness with the hops would have yielded the perfect porter, but as it is it falls just short of perfection.
