Definitely not my favorite. One of the more bizarre some root beer with a bitter finish maybe from the gentian root and tree resin. Not something I would purchase.

Definitely smells like a German hefe. Taste is a bit more sour and slightly peppery. It is not nearly sour enough to be classified as a sour. I don't really pickup on most of the ingredients that are in this. I get a slight bit of the pomegranate but that's it. Overall, a decent brew. Not my favorite of the Ancient Ales (that would be Pangea). Certainly nothing wrong with this brew and definitely worth trying.

Aromas of yeast, grapefruit, lemon, and slight burnt sugar. Good carbonation and balanced sweet wheat quickly transitions into a light raspberry with a definitive and lingering sour apple finish. In a relative way...smells like a Hefe tastes like a lambic/sour ale. Very good beer.

Strong root beer on the nose & mouth; eases into a slightly sour finish. The bouquet of flavors includes Italian chestnut, honey, & pomegranate. Had at PP 1/2/13.

Not a bad boy! Dogfish continues to impress with a really wild beer. Tons of pomegranate here and the honey and myrh finish it off nicely.

Really bizarre brew, as are most of the ancient ales from DFH. Yeast, fruit, nuttiness on the nose. Slight tartness from the pomegranate. Hazelnut flavor with a peppery finish. Reminds me of a rye beer.
