Lieve in Amsterdam

Thick, beige, rocky head, with a fair amount of trailing lace and good retention. It is almost stout dark, but has just a hint of clarity to it and a deep amber brown color. Very sweet fruity aroma with hints of apricot, nutmeg, and a slightly nutty malt. Flavor is fairly balanced afterwards, but begins quite sweetly with a sweet fruitiness and a hint of cloves. Fairly crisp yet moderately creamy mouthfeel, while the sweetness masks its warmth. Aftertaste is certainly dryer than you would expect with such a sweet beer smoothing things out well, though the sugared malt (with added came sugar) is certainly stronger than the delayed dryness.
