This beer earns it's name. This is a very smooth tasting beer, but it packs a serious punch from an ABV standpoint.

A little bit of a bitter after taste that I don't care for

28FEB13, Flying Saucer, Dallas/Addison, TX Draft, chalice Server said it's an imperial red. Clear amber color, tiny trace of off white head. Really earthy aroma, malty with caramel notes. Taste is initially hop sweetness with a bit of citrus and spices, quickly being just edged out by bitterness. Medium mouthfeel, low-to-medium carbonation, with a medium dry finish and lingering bitterness. It's okay, not super awesome. I still need to try more reds.

A little dark for me. But nice overall.

Velvety yes on the tongue. Smooth. Almost cherry tasting. No smell. Slight alcohol burn from the ABV.
