I like this one. Very tasty. Real chewy moth feel. Dark color. Sweet and yeasty. Oak come through.

Once again, I am a sucker for anything aged in oak barrels. I bought this because it had a 100 rating on BeerAdvocate by the Bros - on second look, it was reviewed in 2000. English/Scottish beers are just not my thing. I really don't like the yeast. It is different and as pronounced as a Belgian yeast. Makes a big difference in the beer. That being said, this is a decent beer, just not my thing.

Dark beer

A bit flat, would be 5 star out of the keg.
Smooth and caramel hints
Wee heavy = not very filling, could drink quite a few. Nice barrel fermented taste

This beer was disgusting. It smelled and tasted like soy sauce. Dark brown color, flat, with absolutely no head. I could only stomach a few sips and threw it out. An individual bottle of this was $4.99 so it wasn't a cheap choice either. If I could give it a no star rating I would but I guess a 1/2 star will do.

The Barrel fermentation comes through in the finish clearly, and the overall flavor is very traditional of Scottish Ales. The 7.2% ABV sneaks up on you as this ale is smooth.

Complex Scottish heavy ale. Oak aged makes it smooth and perfect

Very smooth. Excellent.

Very tasty, complex flavor but much lighter mouth feel than an oatmeal stout.
