FabAru - August 17, 2019Mild for a barleywine. The soft aroma first tips you off to this. Yet aroma is of barleywine. Taste is butterscotch, hop. Sweet but soapy, bitter on the back end. Decent amount of fizz and good more than medium body. Barleywine taste but subdued, almost like they added a few dabs of IPA. Or almost like it has been aged a while. Often I think that barleywines are too harsh and either require aging or barrel conditioning, so it seems like this should appeal. It does but it is not very convincing. A puzzling one. Could be 3 stars, could be 4 stars. Get again? Do not know.
