FabAru - August 19, 2018A superlative imp stout. Really balanced and smooth. The rum barreling is well done and an important flavor component but doesn?t hit you on the head. Maybe that?s partly a function of using rum rather than the standard bourbon. Malt, vanilla, and some chocolate, and thankfully without coffee. More on the sweet side. Full bodied, as a stout should be?you can see this in the pour, where it?s dark black and looks thick. This is a new favorite stout, and fuck off to those on Brew Gene who make the composite score only a 4/5! Any negatives? Well, it ain?t cheap, at $5 for one bottle (at Downer Liquor).
rhowey - November 21, 2014Wow! This may just be my new favorite high gravity beer. I've had a number of bourbon aged beers. Sometimes the flavor of those is too much like barbecue. But this has a unique flavor. Really delicious.
