Good beer. Colour is kinda like motor oil I suppose, slightly used oil. Funky aftertaste but upfront it's ok. Admittedly I was put off buying this for years because of the name and if you ever change yer car's oil often as I do then, ya, you'd understand. Would buy again but not often.
2nd try. Ack! what an odd taste. Put me off for good. I'll stick with their Scottish ale.

Clean palette, crisp for a dark ale... Toasted malt, smooth finish, sweet dark fruits, soft texture

Pours a nice off-white thick semi-smooth head, though with poor retention and minimal lace. Hue is deep copper to brown, sort of a root beer color. Aroma offers whiffs of coffee and dark chocolate alongside hints of molasses and cola. The taste is nutty with a bit of molasses, coffee, and grains, though is hindered by an odd aftertaste. True to its name, it is a bit oily on the mouth and takes a slight knock for that as well as the aftertaste.
