Nice balance. I agree with the "drink cold" comments. By the end, ginger flavor isn't dominant, but it's a great dark beer that tastes like Christmas. If you want more ginger, add a little--or rim the glass with crushed ginger snaps if that's your style. But I found this the perfect drink while sitting in front of a fire, just as is.

Opaque black in color with a thick frothy khaki head that lasts while slowly leaving thick lacing down the glass. Subtle aromas of molasses and clove. Medium to thick body, it has a distinct clove taste reminiscent of gingerbread. Also flavors of nutmeg molasses and ginger. Smooth flavors and taste but has a bit of a harsh clove/alcohol finish. Best when ice cold.
The alcohol from the high abv (9%) begins to dominate the closer to room temp it gets. Would definitely have again. One of the better high gravity beers sam adams makes.

A bit hoppy for a stout can't quite put my finger on it. Not as balanced as I would like

Nice dark frothy beer. Would be good over a scoop of vanilla ice cream

From the tap. Excellent offering from Sam Adams. Higher ABV than usual, but not overpowering like Fat Jack Pumpkin Ale. Hints of clove and nutmeg, but clove is the dominating flavor. Agreed that it is best enjoyed cold; alcohol begins to dominate the closer to room temp it gets. Would definitely have again.

Definitely one of the limited editions better enjoyed ice cold rather than just cold. Absolutely loved it; however, as it warmed a bit, the percentage definitely began to overpower the flavors.
An odd one but I surely enjoyed it.
