Stopped in Las Cruces boldly and carefully crossing the country in the Time of COVID. Wanted to try a beer from New Mexico. Saw this at Sprouts Market, didn?t read the reviews before. Was trying to get in and out quickly. Mistake...yeah it?s way too hoppy for a red ale that IS NOT balanced by the caramel and roasted malts. Reminds me of the smell of floor wax remover from my childhood. Yuck! Will ne?er touch these lips again !

12 oz bottle. Pours very hazy red amber with finger off white head, decent retention, good lacing. Aroma is mild, sweet malt and a touch of tropical fruit. The taste is really balanced nicely. Caramel malt backbone, but not sweet, there are plenty hops. The hop flavor is a mix of citrus peel, pine and dank earthiness which linger just the right amount. Medium soft mouthfeel. Really enjoyed this hop-forward red ale, wanted another. September 2015.

Pretty bitter for a red.

Not for me.
The beer is good enough, nice color and a vivid flavor. I get that. But it is quite hoppy with a grapefruit flavor similar to Foothills Hoppyum. I just don't like grapefruit in my beer.
Tried this beer while I was in Albuquerque for ASMC in October, 2013.

I agree with Kotijaeren, right on the nose with that one: good flavor, but a little too hopsy.

Great caramel aroma and color. Hoppy and strong

Full of flavor. Very good!

Bold and robust, less sweet than traditional amber, with a bit too much hop bitterness for my tastes.
