specksofdust - June 8, 2013I always know Amarillo hops when I taste them. They punch through in a way that I cannot explain. When it comes down to it, it's a hop I just don't like. However, I am learning that if its artfully blended into a balanced hop profile, it can be pretty damn good. Lagunitas accomplishes that in this ale, and I like it. Nice hard hop hit, with a great sweetness to it, that finishes quickly. No lingering bitterness and very little aftertaste. We're the finish a bit longer and the malts just a bit more prevalent and complex, this would be a 5-Star. It still manages to accomplish what it sets out to do, and it does it well.
